About MyChessPlan
Stop losing the same way twice.
The problem we’re solving
Most adult chess improvers plateau because their study has nothing to do with their losses. They watch GM streams, grind random puzzles, learn opening lines they’ll never see in their own games — and the rating chart stays flat. Meanwhile the same patterns are quietly losing games every week. Time trouble. Endgame conversion. The Sicilian variation that the engine has hated since move 8 in 80% of attempts.
A coach can spot all of this in 90 minutes. Coaches cost $60-150 an hour and most adult improvers don’t have one. MyChessPlan was built to be a coach’s first session — the diagnostic part — automated and free.
Mission
Give every adult improver, at any rating, a data-driven answer to the question “what should I work on next?” — within 60 seconds and without a credit card. Make plateau-breaking accessible to people who’ll never hire a coach but are serious about improvement.
How we’re different
- Pattern, not single-game review. chess.com Game Review tells you what went wrong in one game. We tell you what’s wrong with your play across 100 games. Different problem, different answer.
- Archetype, not score. Aimchess gives you a numerical breakdown by category. We give you a name for what kind of plateau you’re in — because “you have an endgame problem” is more actionable than “your endgame ACL is in the 32nd percentile.”
- Free without a paywall. Chessable, Aimchess, Decodechess all gate analysis behind a subscription. Our free report is the actual report — not a teaser.
- Built around chess.com data. Most online club players play on chess.com. We meet you where you already are.
Who is behind it
MyChessPlan was created by Javier Galdames, an adult improver and product builder. After hitting his own plateau at 1450 chess.com Rapid and watching three different “improvement” subscriptions fail to move the needle, he started analyzing his own games at scale. The archetype framework came out of pattern-matching across his own losses, then his friends’, then a few hundred volunteer profiles. The free tool you see today is the diagnostic engine that came out of that work.
MyChessPlan is independent and not affiliated with chess.com, Lichess, FIDE, or any chess training platform.
